Can anyone recommend any factual books about wolves suitable for a 10yo?

Fairly in-depth and recent would be good. In fact, a DK eyewitness guide would be ideal - but they don't do one on wolves.

Take a look at the Wolf Conservation Trust website - they have some books in their online shop.
