Can anyone remind me of the name/author of a book where one of the main characters is called Silence?

Have a vague recollection of enjoying this (although it was years ago). Think it was set in the civil war, and Silence was a Puritan. Not much to go on I know!

Googling brings up Wintercombe by Pamela Belle. Is that the one you mean?
