Writting your own Biography?

Has anyone ever tried or succeeding in writing their own 'biography' so to speak? even if just for a hobby?

I've been reading alot these past 2 years or so and I keep saying to myself that I'm going to write my own. just for something to do really...but I've never got around to it, at the moment however I'm itching to start! is it a waste of time when its likely that nobody else will ever read it? Would you ever do it?

Do you mean autobiography? If not, whose life did you have in mind?

yeah autobiography. I wouldn't say I've led an interesting life but I feel like I want to get it all down, maybe help me work through some feelings? I don't know...just wondered if anyone had tried it?

Why don't you try some memoirs? That way you can pick and choose the interesting bits.

I have tried to persuade a 70 yr old acquaintance (former concert pianist) to do it and my mother (age 85) but neither of them want me to know their secrets.

In 1957 my aunt wrote a fragment of memoirs about a specific incident in her life that took place around 1938. Don't know how cathartic she found the process, but the writing has survived her.

I've been writing journals for as long as I can remember, so I have a large pile of notes for something like an autobiography! Mind you, when I look back at them, they are embarrassing (particularly the teenage stuff).
