Anyone else read this?
I never liked the sound of The Virgin Suicides, so was a bit off when dh gave me Middlesex for my birthday, but I've just finished it and it was BRILLIANT.

Read it about 7 months ago - agree it is absolutely fantastic - love the way it is non judgemental (about the grandparents) and is so affectionately written - would highly recommend it to anyone

Utterly agree about Desdemona and Lefty, Neetsmassi, it's so skilfully done. Definitely the sort of book that sticks in one's mind!
Have you read The Virgin Suicides btw? Is it as good?

sorry haven't read it - I'm afraid it doesn't really appeal.

Have you read Life of Pi - takes some getting into (100 pages or so ) then is briliiant - shorter read than Middlesex though

Well funnily enough I got Pi for Christmas from dh and have also yet to read it. I'll dust it down and skip VS, thanks!

|Will be very interested to see what you think - as I said first 100 pages or so not brilliant but persevere.

Have fun

I'm another who loved Middlesex but still has life of pi on the shelf unread. Will read it next. But it'll have to be after the latest Marion Keyes !!

I'm reading the Virgin Suicides just now, for a short book it's taking me a long time to get through, I'm about half way through and wouldn't say I'm gripped but definately want to read to the end. Life of Pi is fantastic, the best book I've read this year! Although I agree the first 100 pages are a bit hard going.
