i posted this in the wrong place first, sorry. a girl is wandering aimlessly, drifting from one job to another. she finds a job in a small rural diner owned by a bitter wheel-chair bound veteran. they have a thing going and she becomes pregnant. she's afraid of being tied down so she runs off to the nearest big town and doesn't tell him she's leaving. he believes she left because he's paralyzed until he learns that she has a baby with her. he searches for a long time and finds her and brings her 'home'. a real 'chickbook'.
