Just going through the collection of his books (again). Is there any other writers with similar plot/pace?

I love Michael Connelly. When I met him at a book signing, I said “Thanks for Harry!” A wonderful character.

I also like Mark Billingham, Paul Finch (Heckenberg series). Aside from the big names like Jo Nesbo

James Patterson - Alex Cross series
John Grisham - writes legal-based thrillers

If you like police procedurals: Reginald Hill; Deborah Crombie (British). Ian Rankin (Scottish). Henning Menkel, who might be the closest to Harry Bosch - Sweden. Louise Penny (Canadian). Alison Taylor (set in Wales). Martin Walker (set in France). David Hewson (set in Italy).

Jonathan Kellerman - the Alex Delaware series. Just re-reading them now having finished re-reading all the Harry Bosch ones. Also Jeffrey Deaver.

Try The Octunnumi by Trevor Alan Foris - new author I think as I can not find any information, but the book is good and the page turning is nice effect (its a virtual online book) I am half way through and am at that 'want to finish, don't want to finish' stage.

Quentin Jardine's Skinner series may be of interest. They follow a group of characters, who pop in over and over, through 29 novels and about 20 years. Set in Scotland, mainly in Edinburgh.

A huge Harry Bosch fan here, other writers I like for their character development as well as plot & pace are:-
Harlan Coben the Myron Bolitar series
Sue Grafton alphabet series
Tess Gerritsen the Rizzoli & Isles series

I've been ploughing through the Bosch books and I love them.

Although they're set in London, not LA I would recommend the DC Max Wolfe series by Tony Parsons. They remind me of Bosch in many ways; stories that twist, a troubled loner detective although Max Wolfe has a DD, goes against his superiors.

I resisted because I didn't enjoy Tony Parsons' non detective books but the Max Wolfe books are good.

David Baldacci? Quite a few really pacy twisty series with satisfying character development - Amos Decker series, Camel Club series, King and Maxwell series too.

Philip Kerr- One of the Bernie Gunther novels. They're crime thrillers but set in Nazi Germany, pre, during and post war.

Jeffrey Deaver (new Lincoln Rhyme out tomorrow and I'm rather excited)
Quintin Jardine
