The Tenderness Of Wolves

What am I missing here?

I've just finished it (and ploughed on to the end despite my better judgement) , 450 pages of different groups of people plodding through snow, a couple of brief descriptions of wolves, constant narration shifts so I couldn't engage with any of them and far too many characters to keep track of.

Can't believe it was Costa book of the year.
Or have I really missed the whole point?

I loved it too. I felt spellbound by it.

My book group hated it. I don't remember much about it other than it met with mass dersision. I hated it so much I've never read anything else by her and have an aversion to any book with a "The somethingness of something " tirle
