Anyone know if you can find collections of classic novels by mixed authors? Apparently he (he’s a friends son, 18 very soon so I’m in a panic buymode) has recently read and liked animal farm and the great gatsby.

Any suggestions Welcome .

Thank you and apologies if on the wrong thread I wasn’t quite sure which one to tap into but thought this might be more active given the title.

I thought mixed authors might be good as introductions to various authors, but so far can only see collections by author. Not wanting to spend more than £30 so only a few books if that.... which I guess also might make my search a little difficult,

How about a book about reading books? I bought myself 1001 Books To Read before You Die recently. It's a proper coffee table/doorstop book with beautiful illustrations. And will give him some reading ideas. I also think it might appeal to a boy as they seem to like a) lists b) competitiveness !

Penguin used to do a couple of ‘Classics’ collections you could buy for not very much from the book people. But I’ve checked and not any more and the classic box sets they do do now are very pricey.

What about the booker prize winner from the year he was born? Or do you have a favourite book?

Thank you both. I really like both suggestions, and much better than random books. I had thought about a book I loved at his age, but booker prize and books to read would be great. Thank you both- I’m very relieved as was feeling stuck (and am no longer!)
