Three young people, possibly cousins, possibly orphans - two girls and a boy - are brought up together. One of the girls wants to sing professionally in Paris and is disappointed by sleazy management. The other girl is obsessed by her. There was a bonnet drama mini series of it in the late 80s or early 90s.

I thought it was by Daphne du Maurier but I can’t find the right one. If anyone can help I’d really appreciate it!

I don't think this is it, but are you thinking possibly of Trilby by George du Maurier? It sort of fits your description.

I don’t think that’s it, but that certainly looks like a strange and interesting book, thank you!

It was very odd. In fact I don't think I managed to finish it. It was the mention of du Maurier that made me think of it Smile. Intrigued to know what it really is.

It sounds a bit like The Parasites, by Daphne du Maurier, years since I read it though.

Thanks for the suggestion - I don’t think that’s it but I’ll keep looking. I think it must not be du Maurier as I tried searching for all screen versions of her work, so I will have to try to remember more details!

How annoying! There is a book I would love to read again but I have asked on here and no one knew it. I wish it was as easy as finding a tune!!!
