help lovely literary Mnetters..i am trying to find a poem that i first heard several years ago on Poetry please on radio 4. Sadly i cannot recall what it was called but i thought it was by Helen Dunmore but i can't find it looking at her work.
It is on theme of life expectations and disappointments, and each verse ends something like ' this isn't what you thought it would be'...
i do recall a verse about trying to get a buggy up the front steps and reference to rainbow family or rainbow child...

is this ringing any bells with anyone ?

thanks

I don't know but am interested to find out. You could try asking Roger McGough on Twitter?

@piggywaspushed.... Oh thank you so much.. I have spent days looking for it... When I first heard it I was in a very black place in my life and it resonated, it was also the first poetry please episode I had ever heard... Re awakened a long forgotten love of poetry.

Wonderful MN.... Thank you again

It's a good poem... I knew I had used it at school once.

Glad to have helped Smile
