Hi all

I'm struggling to find my next series to read and wondered if you lovely lot could point me in the right direction?

I love detective /crime books (preferably series), and have read all of these at least - can you recommend any new ones for me please?

Michael Connelly / Bosch
Robert Bryndza / Erika Foster
Karin Slaughter / GBI and the ones before them
Lisa Gardner / DD Warren
Robert Craig / Elvis Cole
Jeffrey Deaver / Lincoln Rhyme
James Patterson / Alex Cross
Chelsea Cain / Archie Sheridan
Val MacDermid / Carol Jordan
And a load of Linwood Barclay books

shhhfastasleep · 05/01/2018 11:54

Sara Paretsky (author); VI Warshawski (private eye). Female. Chicago. Present day. Fantastic.

MyfanwyMontez · 05/01/2018 11:55

I really enjoyed the Charlie Resnick dried by John Harvey. Set in Nottingham.

CatherineMaitland · 05/01/2018 11:56

Seconding the Sara Paretsky rec.

I liked the first Susie Steiner Manon Bradshaw book.

MyfanwyMontez · 05/01/2018 11:56

series not dried

LoniceraJaponica · 05/01/2018 11:58

Jo Nesbo Harry Hole series

Viviennemary · 05/01/2018 11:58

I'm not keen on detective novels. But folk I know like Ian Rankin and also Quintin Jardine.

Parkrunner25 · 05/01/2018 12:02

Chris Carter/ Robert Hunter.

simbobs · 05/01/2018 12:05

I second John Sandford but also
Sue Grafton Alphabet series. She just died and only got to X
Stephen Booth - Cooper/Fry series, set in Derbyshire
Peter May - Enzo Series and The Lewis Trilogy

patsythepol · 05/01/2018 12:10

Sophie Hannah - Culver Valley crime
Mick Heron - Jackson Lamb (this is more secret service than police)

Frouby · 05/01/2018 12:12

The Vera and Shetland series are fantastic. Also the Simon Serralier books too. And I loved the Tana French ones about the dublin murder squad.

WillowWept · 05/01/2018 12:13

Some good suggestions here - thanks

WhenIGrowUpIWantToBeAPenguin · 05/01/2018 12:19

Seconding (thirding?) Tana French’s Dublin Murder Squad books, a bit of a twist on the normal detective series with some really good central characters

bigfishlittlefishtupperwarebox · 05/01/2018 12:30

You guys are brilliant, they'll keep me going for ages! Thanks!!

Denise Mina - Alex Morrow - brilliant
If you like a bit of history with your sleuthing, the CJ Swanson Shardlake series

OuchLegoHurts · 05/01/2018 12:41

Another recommendation here for Tana French...try to read them in order

bigfishlittlefishtupperwarebox · 05/01/2018 12:48

Oh I'm a bit obsessive about reading in order... Grin
