I read this book a few years ago but not sure if I finished it but would like to. A woman has an affair. I think they were both married but not absolutely sure. It was very genteel and not much passion. But the bit I remember was he owned a flat where they used to meet near a leafy square in London probably.. But after the affair ended the flat was sold but she still used to go and sit on a bench in the square not because she was sad but she hadn't anything better to do. (Sounds awful I know!)
I thought it might be a Barbara Pym or Anita Brookner but still can't trace it at all. Just wondered if it rang a bell with anyone. Thanks.
