Does anything actually happen in Howards End

I am just over 100 pages in and am finding it really boring, nothing has really happened yet just lots of waffling about art.
I will persevere if it's about to get better but I can't take another 250 pages of this.

Yes, things happen, but as far as I remember it's not until the second half of the novel and mostly towards the end. But I read it a long time ago, so my memory of it is a bit rusty. I was a bit bored as well, but glad that I persevered. I remember it as a good novel, but not a life changing 'must read'.

There is a lot of waffle about art throughout because of the emphasis on the contrasting values of the two families, so if you hate that it might be an idea to switch to watching the mini series if you just want to know what happens. It's really not worth persevering with reading a book that you do not enjoy.

Oh yes it’s great. Slow burning then gets very dramatic. Excellent study of class and modernity in Edwardian Britain.
