which series is this? may contain spoilers

It is a crime series. He is the policeman, his wife/ partner and mother of his daughter (Josephine?) Is a lecturer. He is adopted. One book involves a child in a cage which may or may not bring back memories, in one his wife gets attacked by another lecturer/author, in one a holiday place is blown up or arson, in one there is a crossdresser. There are at least 6 in the series.

Anyone? I am keen to rediscover it!

Not the Fjallbacka series by Camilla Lackberg?

The main characters were an author and her policeman husband. I think she was attacked by another author in one book. There was a cross dresser in one of the books and someone found out they were adopted in one, though I don't think it was either of the main characters.

I found it. Tania French. Very good series as is Camilla Lackberg's.
