Bugging me.
I read it in either 1999 or 2000. Newly published in hardback at the time. Set in Amsterdam. 3 woman kidnap and hold a man hostage in a house. Bit weird. White cover with a plug onthe front.

Liking your pedantry - I actually remember it as a plug not a switch - and am quite annoyed that it is a switch. in my memory it is a plug.

Incidently - how did you both find it so quickly from my rather obscure description?

which came up with a Guardian Q&A session with the author which lead me to Amazon

I also googled kidnap amsterdam women novel and got the Amazon entry!
