Wondering what people's thoughts are on Cathy Glass. I've read a few of her books and enjoyed them. The books are sold as non fiction and I'm wondering how she is allowed to publish the stories because of confidentiality reasons. She writes under a pen name, but the people in the stories must surely be able to identify themselves. And shes making money out of their unfortunate stories. So just wondering if they are actually true or made up? She seems a very busy foster carer, but never mentions in the books that she also writes.

We read one of hers for book club.

The names must be changed, but you're right- the people involved would recognise themselves.

It's not really my cup of tea, I found it read very much like she is regurgitating her daily journals on each child. I found her writing style quite irritating- "I did X" and then a long explanation on why her foster training told her to do X. Many times over.

Her own kids are too perfect.

The consensus in our book club was that they would work better as short stories (three or four cases per book) but she wouldn't make so much money then (we're a cynical lot). She could do with a co-writer I think.

Apparently she also gives workshops on being a best selling author

I'm sure she's a lovely carer and she's given some stability to some kids that have had a shocking start to life, but I won't be queuing up to read the dozen or so others she's written.

I really like her books. I've read loads.
I read on another thread someone said that she writes cos she's finished fostering (although all the blurb about her everywhere always says she is a fosterer not was and I can't imagine her stopping) so really not sure how true that is
