I need 50 party bags, of which boy/girl is roughly half and half. Two are babies, and 3 or 4 are over 5, the rest are 2-5 year olds. I'd like to put a little book in each bag (thinking the little mr men size ones) any suggestions for cheap but nice ones?

This company often has good deals on books, with sets packaged together which you can then break up one for each bag.

Have a look on the book people web-site or red house which is a sister company. I have always found these to be cheaper than anywhere else, and often do packages of books which work out very cheap.

They have a decent looking little red tractor set, although I think they may be a tiny bit big for party bags

Can't find anything more girly though

I know it makes me sound like a total cheapskate but I did DS's partybags last year with a selection of good quality ladybirds/paperbacks etc from my local oxfam bookshop - most looked brand new and cost me an average of about 20p each.

They've got 16 Miffy books for £20 and also 16 Rednose Readers for £9.

The Rednose Readers are a scheme for new readers but they're written/illustrated by Colin McNaughton and Alan Ahlberg so might do as story books for younger children.

IIRC Rednose Readers are small format books (maybe a bit bigger than Mr Men though)

treacle - I was thinking that but I've left it a bit late (it's the 14th)

Could you get the complete little miss box set for £20 and split it with one book for each guest?

oooh I like these but they're board books...

They are nice - does depend on your budget tho? Are you sorted for boys? or are you still looking?

Peter Rabbot library 10 books @£12.99 . Maybe for older children tho??
