anyone read this? I had a search and commented on the film section earlier but then I thought I should post here.

I read it after seeing the film, so I have probably been influenced by that.
My main question is, does anyone think Dan Leno was involved or is the alibi of being on stage good enough?
I thought the book left a few things open. I mean yes, being on stage should be good enough but there are some implications that he was at least following the killer and knew what they were doing. And given the whole act was dressing up, if he said he was performing in Oxford, someone else - Lizzie? - could have performed in his place and photos etc would not be circulating in those times.
Also the book mentions they share a birthday and from the film I thought they had a real bond - a friendship that nothing would break. But also from the film I thought what happened to Aveline was no accident, but that was not the impression given in the book.
I couldn't go back and recheck points in the book because there's now a list at the library so I had to return it on Saturday but it's been bugging me!
Thanks for any thoughts, love to know what others thought of the book.
