From global bestseller Cathy Glass comes gripping new crime novel The Darkness Within, written under the name of Lisa Stone.

When critically ill Jacob Wilson is given a life-saving heart transplant, his parents are relieved that their darling son has been saved.

However, before long, his family are forced to accept that something has changed in Jacob. Their once loving son is slowly being replaced by a violent man whose mood swings leave them terrified – but is it their fault?

Jacob's girlfriend, Rosie, is convinced the man she loves is suffering from stress. But when his moods turn on her, she begins to doubt herself – and she can only hide the bruises for so long.

When a terrible crime is committed, Jacob's family are forced to confront their darkest fears. Has the boy they raised become a monster, or is someone else to blame? You know your son better than anyone... don't you?

Love it when you really don't know who did it until right at the end. Love James Patterson

A good main character that has some quirky personality traits and then a twisty story line!

Characters I can relate to, but who then have strange, plot twists, get mired in suspense, and I can follow them avidly through the story. I find eerily described locations always get goosebumps up on my arms, bleak, cold, desolate places, pacy writing!

There has to be a good tagline to hook me in in the first place. I love a story where there are lots of twists and turns to keep my interest, while actually feeling like I'm getting to know the characters and understand their motivations/actions/inevitable flaws.

It doesn't bother me if the plot's been done before really as long as it keeps my interest (and it's not a direct copy of something else)!

There's a Simon Kernick book called 'Relentless' that is brilliant if you're looking for a 'sit down with a book and don't get up again until it's finished' experience. It certainly lived up to its title.

Different plot themes that seem individual until the last few chapters when everything becomes clear.
