Longshot...do you know what book this is? Fiction about Miners riots in S Wales

It's a book I read about a year ago that I fancy reading again but can't remember the title or author. It's an easy read, like a Maeve Binchy or similar.

Main characters name is Sally who's a rich girl that gets pregnant by her fiancé Mansel, who disappears...she's married off to a butcher called Owen Bull who abuses her. Then ends up working in a family house of miners with her illegitimate son...that's about all I remember. Set in S Wales.
