Like proper mind bending drugs?
Becasue her Tales of Peter Rabbit and crew are weird!
I've been reading Lottie stories from The Selected Tales of Beatrix Potter and they are just, well, ..weird!

We just finished the tale of Ginger and someone (cat and terrier). It was all about the problems of running a store while giving unlimited credit and how a small village suffers when a shop is closed down. That was the plot. It was hardly a children's story, more an essay about economics. I have decided that we will not be doing Potter any more.

They are freaky, yes that's the perfect word for them, freaky.

I feel compelled to keep reading them though.

I've only just discovered the freaky world of Beatrix Potter and I need to know more now.

mycology and pharmaceuticals

quite normal preoccupations for a spinster in the 1900s surely

the tale of the two bad mice is lovely

but shall have to check for druggy refgerences now

thiought it was aminly about hard ham

TeeCee · 21/03/2007 20:05

It's not so much that there are druggy references, it's more that she must have been on some sort of acid trip when she was writing them.

I loke Dr Seuss books.
I think I might quite get in to BP as well after I get over the shock of how strange they are.
