Anyone else read this? I just finished it this morning and found it a very good read.

It was at times funny (petty politics of a small town), frustrating (the restrictions on the life and independence of a young intelligent woman) and also terribly poignant (WW1 just breaking out).

In the last few chapters I could not put this down as I was so desperate to find out how things would turn out for the main characters.

I have not ready anything else by this author but fully intend to. Has anyone else?

I read it on holiday a few weeks ago - really enjoyed it too.

I haven't read this yet (although I intend to soon), but I really loved 'Major Pettigrew's Last Stand', which she also wrote. A very sweet, poignant and gently humorous book.
