Poll - Which to buy

I'm currently considering buying off the Folio Society website (I've already got some of their books and looooove them). I'm split between The Handmaid's Tale and Rebecca. I've not watched or read either and want to read the stories first. Which would MNers recommend? :)

Depends on how dystopian you like your fiction I suppose.

PossomInAPearTree · 29/05/2017 13:05

I love both but Rebecca the most.

ImperialBlether · 29/05/2017 13:06

Rebecca. It's pure pleasure.

SplitInfinitive · 29/05/2017 16:02

Rebecca. It's superb. You won't regret it.

rebecca... one of my favourite book's ever.... started reading it again as soon as I'd finished it... couldn't bear to let it go...

Murine · 29/05/2017 20:27

I'd choose Rebecca too although I love both. Thankyou for bringing Folio books to my attention, they are beautiful: I just found and bought DH's favourite book for his birthday.

Has to be Rebecca beautifully written

AtlantaGinandTonic · 29/05/2017 20:44

Thanks, everyone! Rebecca it is!

Murine they're beautiful books, ones that you look at and imagine handing down to your children (assuming they want them!). Happy to hear that you've found them too! :)

Plus at the moment of you buy a book, you get another one for free. They choose though, so you get a surprise!

Yes they are stunning! I didn't get to take advantage of their offer sadly, it was back in 1999 that they did an edition of DH's present so I searched and bought it secondhand from an Amazon seller because, perhaps unsurprisingly, they didn't have it in stock!Smile

I don't know if you're near London at all, but they have a shop where they keep copies of older books for sale. I've not been before, so if you go I shall be pea green! Grin

Where is this shop? I would love to know. I remember seeing one advertised years ago but thought it was closed!
