Books of short stories for boys?

DS is nearly 6 and we've been doing a lot of short stories at bedtime recently, rather than picture books. We've worked through Thomas the Tank Engine stories (surprisingly DS liked these) and Horrid Henry. Which we both love.

Any recommendations???

Some Dick King Smith books or Captain Underpants ( a favourite with my DS 6 )

Roald Dahl books are brilliant and ds loved them.

Hmm, a quick update. I have to say I'm not impressed with Captain Underpants. Very american and a lot of phrases about "butts" and "what the heck", and children that say "Whatever." Now, why do I find that a problem when we love Horrid Henry so much?

Off to Waterstones next week to try some of the other suggestions.

My ds likes 'yuck' stories by matt and dave. H's 5.5 and a very confident reader and I found it hard to find books that grabbed his attention. As this series has stories about big bogies and farts it makes him giggle as well as makes him read.
