Anyone know what book this is?

Years ago (probably 15-20) I remember flicking through a book which I think was an autobiography. I can't remember the exact setting but I think it was India or a close neighbour. The author was talking about how as a child she once ate something her brother wanted (an apple?) and her punishment was that her brother got to control everything she ate after that, and he did not allow her much at all. That is literally all I can remember so I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know which book this may be?

This is vaguely familiar. I don't think it's Jean Sasson's Princess trilogy but it might be?
It's a biography of a rebellious Saudi Arabian princess. She does have a difficult relationship with her brother and of course males have total control over female relatives but I don't remember him controlling what she ate.
