I need someone to talk to about the ending!

Yes I've just finished it. Found it v v confusing.

PetalMettle · 12/04/2017 07:27

Ah hurray! It's the bracelet I wondered about, right at the end - does that mean claire was still alive?

LavenderDoll · 12/04/2017 07:37

The bracelet confused me.
I wondered if sunbed man had somehow got hold of it and wasn't dead ...

PetalMettle · 12/04/2017 09:07

I still don't understand why he had a sunbed, was that explained?
The other thing I wondered was whether Claire never existed at all? Whether taylor had mpd and in the end subsumed her into her personality? But then there's too much of a back story for both girls for that to work isn't there?

Just finished this....what was the last twist (re. the bracelet)? I fear I don't quite get it?

TenThousandSteps · 11/05/2017 23:40

I've just finished this book and I need an answer regarding the bracelet at the end, so have come onto Mumsnet to see if there was a discussion about it and there is, but none the wiser!

Claire (who stole the bracelet) gave it back to Amber a few chapters earlier in the hospital, so not sure what the significance of it being on the room service tray at the end was. Any ideas?

I feel slightly miffed....

KReid1 · 12/05/2017 13:31

I just finished this also and I have so many questions! I thought it was because I listened to the audio book and I probably zoned out a few times. So was it really Claire who caused the accident? If it was then why was there no question as to who was driving? And who was the psycho child, was it Claire or Amber?? And the bracelet? Come on! I thought it was so gripping throughout but the ending let me down unfortunately. If it had just ended with Amber killing Claire and her husband I would have thought it was a kind of twisted poetic justice. But all of those twists at the end just left me feeling confused. Well done to the writer though, I can definitely see this in the cinemas. :-)

I just wanted to bump this as I'm really confused about the bracelet at the ending too. I think Edward's body wasn't found, was he (or did I misread)? But if so, how does he even end up with the bracelet?

I don't usually end up this stumped by books Confused

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 18/05/2017 18:22

"I unzip the body of who I used to be and step outside of myself; a newborn Russian doll, a little smaller than I was before, wondering how many other versions of me are still hidden inside”.

I like to read before switching the light off at night. I couldn't read it in one go but it was certainly difficult to put down.
At around 2:30 am having reached the very end, I did go back and read the early chapters and the last ones again ( no baby, no job to go to next day!) to see if I figured it out and I still don't know for sure what the answer is.

Gripping book.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 20/05/2017 09:05

I've just read this and googled what on earth the ending was about! The bracelet really confused me too. Confused

ChildMentalHealthisIMPORTANT · 30/05/2017 18:33

Completely confused by the ending. What was that all about?

byronicheroine · 30/05/2017 18:36

I found a quote from the author on twitter: 'It's about how, if we spend too long pretending to be somebody else, we can forget who we are' which makes me wonder about whether there's been some kind of switch and Paul was having an affair with Claire and they killed Amber. She (Claire) is now kidding herself but her subconscious is playing tricks (the bracelet). It could be read several different ways.

byronicheroine · 30/05/2017 18:37

I think Edward had a sunbed to perpetrate his 'I'm a cool sexy successful doctor' persona when it was all actually bullshit

SuperSange · 15/11/2017 15:47

I was so pleased that I found this thread, but you’re all as confused as I am!! What the fuck was that all about?

23dreams · 17/04/2018 22:07

I am so irritated by the ending after enjoying the book so much! 🙃

lemony7 · 20/04/2018 17:58

There’s going to be a sequel, so Amazon tells me. “Sometimes I Kill” our March 19. Hopefully there will be answers!

lemony7 · 20/04/2018 17:59

*out March 2019

Jenniferturkington · 31/12/2018 22:35

Bumping this thread as I’ve just finished the book and am confused!

Mama516 · 05/01/2019 15:06

Yes! I’m so glad there is a thread about this. So I was thinking, doesn’t it seem a little too convenient that Edward burst back onto the scene right when all this happened?? Do you think it’s possible that Claire saw the signs that Amber was pregnant, got insanely jealous, and then contacted Edward to help her and that they planned all of this? They never found his body so I wonder if Claire just made it look like she killed him but really she helped him hide and now he is still out there plotting against Amber. Is that too crazy?? Haha

bookwormKell53 · 08/01/2019 19:39

I just finished the audiobook - loved it, & the narrator did an excellent job, btw. However, I too am so confused! Is it possible that Amber & Claire are the same person (multiple personality disorder)? I feel as though I need to write the characters down and sort through the ending drawing arrows to events, etc. Lol.

greyspottedgoose · 08/01/2019 23:21

The name sounded familiar so Iv looked on my kindle app and Iv read this book, but completely forgotten the contents! Re read the last couple of pages and have no idea what it's about! Iv obviously read it as it re opened in the last page 🙄 looks like il be starting again

GwenB13 · 28/06/2019 16:56

I've just read this book and the more I think about it, the more I'm confused. ESP about the bracelet. Didn't Claire steal the bracelet (the dairies were Claire's) and she crossed out Taylor and put her name (is that right?) but at the end it seems like Amber (who was Taylor) had her surname crossed out and used Claire's surname. So does that mean that Amber was lying?
Also why doesn't Paul seem to care that a random bracelet is on the tray. (Is the bracelet even real at this point)
So annoying Hmm
