Ever seen the "Blind date with a book"?

I don't know how widespread this is.

It involves a "secret" book, wrapped in plain brown paper, with just a few words describing it, like "19th Century Gothic romance sent in Scottland." It's not something I'd do, but I'm amused at the idea.

Yes! Saw these in Waitrose last week. I think they are exclusive to Waitrose (either that, or the particular packages are).

I'm very tempted due to the concept behind it (and the pretty packaging). But it goes against my usual reading habit of scrutinising every purchase and trawling through reviews to ensure I read something worthwhile. Also, what would happen if I'd already read/owned the book I opened?

Would love to know if others have tried them, and what they think of it though Smile
