Alf way through and don't think I can cope with any more tragedy...is the ending uplifting or dreadful. No other spoilers please, just an indication ..

Yes, you must read to the end, it's a lovely book. One of the few book group books that we all really liked.

No spoiler but I cried. No clue there, I cried at the Simpsons once

I didn't personally like the ending, I think it would have been better if it stopped a bit earlier, but that's a personal, structural quibble. Definitely read to the end, though.
