I cannot think of any other author that makes me laugh out loud, fall in love with characters, weep tears and teach me something new about life each time I pick up a book.

I cannot identify my favourite - there are too many. I can only say 'Discworld'.

Please tell me your favourite Discworld novel and why.

Miss you Sir Pterry.

Ooh. I think it Might be Mort - if that is the one where DEATH has a crisis and ends up flipping burgers? Also liked the Wyrd Sisters. Love DEATH'S character. Well, what is not to like? He likes cats and has a horse called Binky!

Eolian · 14/02/2017 15:10

My favourite is the Night Watch. I love the mucking about with time lines stuff and the monks, and I love Sam Vimes. He and Vetinari are my favourite Discworld characters. Also a big fan of Going Postal and Making Money. My dc love the Tiffany Aching ones.

CMOTDibbler · 14/02/2017 15:14

I honestly can't choose. I've been a reader of Pterry since 1985 and they all mean something to me. Even ones like Pyramids, Jingo and the Last Continent which I wasn't mad about at first I came to love

GingerMcGrey · 14/02/2017 15:16

I just read the Shepherds Crown and had a bit of a cry. I feel like I knew Granny Weatherwax my whole life and now she's gone! I've been reading those books for at least 30 years, can't believe there won't be any more. I find myself absently wondering how Vimes is getting on with little Samuel, or if Carrot and Angua had kids.

Just finished reading thief of time for about the 20th time.
I think my favourite is either Mort or Nightwatch. The earlier ones are easier to read when you've been a fan for a while.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2017 15:33

So hard to choose but probably one of the Witches series. I have very soft spots for Soul Music and Moving Pictures amongst others.

helpfulperson · 14/02/2017 16:39

The Moist Von Lipwig ones are my favourites. As well as Moist they also have Sam Vimes, The Watch and the Patrician so what more could you ask for!

WelshMoth · 14/02/2017 16:44

I also had a bit of a cry when Granny died.

Pterry has kept me going through good times and bad and despite it being a fantasy series, by God I've learnt a lot about human-kind through his Characters. World book day soon and I want to honour STP. We're dressing up in school. Any suggestions?

The Night Watch and Small Gods are my favourites.

I'm in love with Sam Vines and Granny Weather is my role model.

My favorite concept, for want of a better word, is the summoning dark/guarding dark idea.

If there were rows upon rows of nails to hit on the head, he would have wacked every one in with one blow.

He got every 'it' there was to get.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/02/2017 21:00

My favourites are "Thud!" and "Unseen Academicals".

DD loves Rincewind and Death, me, I'm a great fan of Vetinari and Sam Vimes.
Everything he wrote is special!

WelshMoth · 14/02/2017 21:49

How do you picture Granny Weatherwax? Should you dress up as her, what would you buy? Im considering a fancy dress for World
book Day and I want to do it justice.

Granny Weatherwax - lots of black, not new fabrics, and quite craggy ,not that that's achievable if you are not....

We were discussing favourite TP books just the other day.Mine are probably Thud, and Carpe Jugulum.DS says The Last Continent.
Really I love them all, they are just so wise and funny.
DS and I are reading our way through, and we've just finished Monstrous Regiment which I would have said I wasn't keen on - reading it now I loved it.

dinkystinky · 15/02/2017 12:46

Witches abroad is my favourite - closely followed by Nightwatch. His characters are so wonderfully drawn and like other posters I cant believe there wont be more of their stories for us to enjoy

dinkystinky · 15/02/2017 12:48

Granny Weatherwax - hobnailed boots, black dress, broom, grey hari back in a severe bun, distressingly fresh and wart free complexion, black hat and a frown plus a white kitten (you) and an almanac on a hook by the door for loo trips

EsmesBees · 15/02/2017 12:50

I can't bring myself to finish the Shepard's Crown. Which I know is ridiculous, but once I do there will be no more left to read.

Granny would wear sensible boots, have her hair scraped back into a bun, and definitely no make up or jewellery.

It's very hard to choose a favourite. I like Reaper Man, and Small God's, Guards Guards, but the witches my favourite characters, so maybe Wyrd Sisters.
