Elephant Moon (or elephant doom?)

I'm reading elephant moon by John Sweeney and I'm finding it really disappointing! It has the bones of an excellent story but I'm getting frustrated by the two-dimensional characters, ridiculous plot contrivances and repetitive descriptions. I'm about halfway through and ambivalent about finishing.

Is it worth it? Does it get Any Better?

I didn't finish it (which is really rare for me) my mum loved it.

It's been a while since I read it but I was unimpressed too. I don't think it gets much better I'm sorry to say.

thanks both, I think I shall leave it for a bit and see if finding out what happens grabs me at a later date.
