Very realistic. I really believe I was there watching the book come alive

amyhalliday1 · 13/10/2016 07:27

Really emotional and realistic

carolineandryanandseb · 13/10/2016 07:39

Not my cup of tea I'm afraid, found it too fantastic and I felt the author had missed a trick. Having said that, I respect his storytelling and occasionally found myself lost in his world, I just didn't like his world!

KAKADU2001 · 13/10/2016 07:42

It's just more of what we have seen before in many other novels of this type. Nowadays it seems that Authors are getting lazy and not coming up with anything that is dramatically new.

Lisapaige24 · 13/10/2016 08:18

I did find it a bit of a cross between Narnia and the secret garden but it was very realistic and great for kids it takes you in to another world who doesn't like the thought of horses with wings and a magic mirror world

glenka · 13/10/2016 08:27

Not our usual type of book but very well written.

bubbleybooboo · 13/10/2016 08:34

I think it has the makings to be a true classic. Its an world war 2 evacuation story that has a touch of magic but not enough to distort the story into something overly fantasy based making it both magical and realistic at the same time.

Its an emotionally, beautiful story that will be enjoyed by children and adults and it encourages the power of imagination. The pictures are simply beautiful.

A wonderful story with a magical touch and beautiful drawings

Looks great

kittensmittens12 · 13/10/2016 09:15

This book made me cry. The author has a really unique voice and it's completely different to anything else i've read recently.

frances93 · 13/10/2016 09:29

I really enjoyed this book and found myself getting really into it early on, I love that it's encouraging the reader to use their imagination!

jacqui5366 · 13/10/2016 10:28

My 11 year old daughter loved this, she love the magic of the horses - almost 'Pottereque' and as she read the Anne Frank diaries last year she compered the two experiences. The author I feel has great potential for great things.

emmav6 · 13/10/2016 10:40

my imagination is rubbish but this book did really help me to explore it more with fabuous illustrations too

stefalfie11 · 13/10/2016 11:41

Beautiful book with amazing drawings to help even me who has zero imagination get into the book!

emzywemzy1986 · 13/10/2016 11:49

sarah861421 · 13/10/2016 13:30

I thought it was well written and really draw you into the world, but the child I read it with wouldnt finish the book, as she just didnt enjoy the story enough. I would recommend the author but perhaps not this particular book

My niece has this book and says it's one of the best books she's read - and she has read many! I love this book as its set in the war, the intrigue, excitement, fear and emotional rollercoaster that goes with this book makes it a must-read!

glennamy · 13/10/2016 19:21
