I got this as a cheap kindle deal of the day last year and have honestly fallen in love with them. They are so easy to read. Anyone else fancy a discussion? I'm. Back again to the start after reading the new one and even though read a year ago they are still amazing! I recommended them for book club and they hated it!!

I like Grace, not as much as Rebus or Thorne, but he is one of the good guys and Brighton. Is a great backdrop. The sandy thing is a bit annoying though. Not read the latest ones.

Roygrace · 08/10/2016 11:57

The last one explains all about sandy

I can't understand why I find them
So comforting a book about murderers!

If you like Rebus and Roy Grace have you heard about the short story with them both? It's in the collection Faceoff.

I've read all the Roy Grace books, can't believe they haven't been turned into a TV series yet. They are so moreish, great plots and characters you care about.

youngestisapsycho · 08/10/2016 20:22

I've read them all... love them. I follow Peter James on Facebook.

Roygrace · 08/10/2016 21:56

He seems nice eh. I wish he would release more quicker. Have you tried other books by him but not Roy grace ones.

What's your fav one? I just finished second one about Tom and Kelly Bryce loved that. Hated the one that kept going back in time to New York. Not sure why

Have just discovered roy grace in 'you are dead' and i am completely hooked. Is this his most recent one? I am really looking forward to picking up the other novels in the series, and am so pleased i have found a 'new' author to explore.
As a long time reader of crime i have heard of roy grace somewhere, and was sure the books had been made into a tv series. I think i must have dreamt it. i once dreamt a whole episode of 'frost'!

Roygrace · 09/10/2016 21:48

They are so addictive! A lot of people who love crime don't rate him!

Frost books are also good.

ChippyDucks · 11/10/2016 21:29

I love them after discovering a paperback on a shite holiday at a haven park 8 years ago Grin
I've read them all, and follow Peter James on Facebook, but I'm going to go against the grain and say the last one was shite. Not enough of Roy Grace in the first half (barely even touched upon) but the second half was okay. I thought the story really lacked the gripping tendencies of every other one in the series.
(For reference, it took me about 4 days to read the last book, whereas usually I read them in one sitting because they're fabulous)

WhenDoISleep · 11/10/2016 21:37

Yes - I like the series too.

I also like the DI Faraday series by Graham Hurley - they are set round Portsmouth.

youngestisapsycho · 12/10/2016 14:09

The Frost books are good too. My mum has all the DCI Banks books, she says they are brilliant.

dannyglick · 12/10/2016 14:38

Always enjoyed the Roy Grace books, but had to stop reading my last one, as I found it disturbingly graphic: a man on his bike was in a road accident with a lorry, and was trapped under the wheels (Dead Man's Grip?).
This was quite near the beginning, and it was just too true to life, and I'm usually partial to a bit of gruesomeness in books ( love Graham Masterton's Katie McGuire series).
DS had passed it on to me after stopping reading it for the same reason.

The80sweregreat · 12/10/2016 16:59

I have read a few DCI Bank novels - but not in order
The one thing that winds me up a bit with Grace is how lovey dovey him and Cleo are - totally unrealistic and she is just too good! The stories are very well written I think, although most reviews are usually negative ( on amazon anyway!), I feel I know my way around Brighton and I live miles away in Essex!

Can someone PM the Sandy story please, pretty please? I'm only on the second book and can't be arsed to wait until the last one to find out what actually happened.

I've been googling like crazy to find out how it ends.
