Could someone suggest a good audiobook

So I've continued on with my Audible subscription and have a couple of months credit to use up. On a big economy drive atm so this is one of my few treats and I need to make it count!

Last 2 books I listened to were a different class and gentlemen and players by Joanne Harris and loved them both. I like thrillery type stuff but not gorey or graphic. I don't mind it being police -y (loved the Shetland books) but prefer not. Also can like a bit of historical stuff like the Shardlake books but again it must be involving.

What I'm really interested in is a well read, well written gripping story that has good twists and intriguing characters. Any ideas?

12 years a slave read by Hugh Quarshie. I find that the narrator makes all the difference on Audible. Other narrators I like are David Thorpe, Peter Kenny, Ray Sawyer and Finty Williams

You might like The Trouble With Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon. I really enjoyed it.

Have just started 11.22.63 by Stephen King. Listened to 6 hours so far with 24 still to go. Is very good so far.

Try any of the Sarah Waters novels narrated by Juanita McMahon, they are amazingly well read and brilliant novels in their own right as well. I'm going to be devastated when they are all used up. I'd particularly recommend Fingersmith.

I loved 'we need to talk about Kevin' on audible.

I'm currently listening to All The Light We Cannot See. It's beautiful.

Oh and I love the Robert Galbraith audiobooks, they were brilliant.

I picked up a complete Jane Austin, brilliant.

Appletree Yard read by Juliet Stevenson. A gripping court room drama. Fab narration.

I've got 'Fear The Sky' on at the moment and I'm absolutely loving it!

Actually the trouble with goats and sheep looks EXACTLY what I'm after. I shall purchase and save the others for next month.

Robert gailbraith's (sp?) books are excellent on audio - cuckoos calling & silkworm. I think there's a third but I haven't 'read' it yet. Do you Recommend audible? I considered it but was put of as it seemed to only offer one book a month.

I've just listened to "beside myself". Loved it.

I'm listening to this: Jane Hill's Can't Let Go. It's really great and sounds like the sort of the thriller you'd like.

Robert Galbraith's books are great on Audible (Narrated by Robert Glenister) - light enough to be able to drive and do housework to, but in depth enough to get thoroughly into. I bought them for my mum as paperbacks and she enjoyed them too.

Cuckoo's Calling and Silkworm are the first two

Career of Evil is the next one (which is lined up ready to play on Audible next for me)

I'd also recommend 11-22-63 - that was great.

I've also just finished World Without End by Ken Follet - all 45 hours of it, but really didn't seem that long. I found it very absorbing.

Americanah was good too.

I got thoroughly involved in Katherine by Anya Seton (Story of Katherine Swynford who was John Of Gaunt's mistress - whose illegitimate children eventually became the Tudor line)

I also listened to the girl with all the gifts - it was excellent! It's in the cinemas at the moment though there's no way I'd go see it lol

11.22.63 Very good and very long - good value at 30 hours

Second that Americanah is V V good ( but long).

Interesting cross-section of life led between Africa and America. Maybe the ending is a bit predictable but the rest of the novel is so satisfying it's ok.

Second "I Let You Go". Brilliant. One of my favourite audible listens and I get through about 2 a month.

There are tons of free audiobooks to listen to with the Bolinda Borrowbox app, OneClickAudio is another good free library app too, I'm slowly working my way through a great mix of authors old and new, I recently enjoyed the Ruth Galloway mystery series by Elly Griffiths, very involved, it definitely managed to grip me :) quality narration too which is always essential. I'm on/off with Audiobook, it is good but too expensive for me to keep going with it every month, I can't recommend the library apps highly enough, lifesaver if you love audiobooks !
