From what they said to the man at the bus stop, to where you found the remote control, when you're a parent laughing at what gets hurled in your direction is beyond important.

Laura Quick's hilarious collection of observational illustrations about the everyday life of a parent will almost certainly raise a smile of recognition and a chuckle of solidarity.

I read through this all in one sitting earlier today - for the most part I found it to be hilarious and could definitely identify with some of the scenarios. Some of the illustrations were a bit awful, which was the only downside. But still a handy guide to give unsuspecting first time parents to let them know what they might be in for.

I'm afraid I can't really get excited about this book. It's more occasional wry smile than laugh out loud. It's all well observed, familiar territory, but I don't think the illustrations are good enough to carry a whole book. It's the sort of book you'd find in someone else's bathroom and enjoy for a few minutes, but not the sort you'd buy other people as a gift. Having said that, it's probably the most accurate baby book I've read.

Enjoyed the book, brought back memories of my own days as a parent of young children and have now passed it onto my daughter. I'm sure that as the mother of 2 small boys, she will enjoy it.

hippychick42 · 03/11/2016 12:03

Loved the book - good illustrations and quotes. Made me laugh a few times and some of the sayings were so true. There were one or two that I didn't get though and felt that it didn't need illustrations of the children's teddies. Would recommend for parents of toddlers to make them laugh, but would probably not pay the RRP.

Absolutely loved this book. Read it in one quick session over nap time which any parent will know is an amazing luxury. So many parts made me laugh out loud! My husband also enjoyed it and I've already passed it around a couple of friends. Definitely a great alternative new baby gift to let friends know what they're getting themselves into!

A lovely parent friendly approach which will touch a cord with many parents/carers.

bevmichelle47 · 10/11/2016 15:25

This is the kind of parenting book I love to read! Not so much a guide on how to raise perfect children, but a very charming and funny book full of illustrations of parenting situations that many of us will recognise and hilarious conversations with children...Parenting can be quite testing and tough so it’s important to see the humour in your everyday life with the kids and this book helps parents do just that.

jandoc · 10/11/2016 15:31
