This week we're spoiling you and giving away a massive 300 copies of Missing, Presumed! Head to the giveaway page to apply - plus read the top tips on writing crime fiction from author Susie Steiner.

Missing, Presumed tells the story of a missing girl, a desperate family, and a detective at breaking point.

We ask all winners to share their thoughts about the book on this discussion thread. However, you don't have to win a free copy to take part in the discussion - anyone who has read Missing, Presumed can post their feedback here (and you can buy the book now).

Everyone who posts on this thread before 21 October will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2shop voucher.

A quick read, with a disappointing finale, one of many.In this case we have few interesting subplots, which add to the bulk of the book, and at times is more engaging than the main plot, which is weak and frankly, annoying in the end.I could not like the Missing,Presumed girl,as there was nothing to like there, and the real reason behind her disappearance was wishy-washy at the best.Don't get the reason of the sub-title being DC Manon,as ther should be a surname, not a first name, and her love life that we had more than a glimpse of,was an uncessecary detritus. All in all,it's a thriller, police, not domestic noir, with all sex possibilities explored.Couldn't hate it,but not loving it,so again the hype and PR wins !

MNHQ I applied. It looked like my request had been registered. But subsequent posters said theirs hadn't, so now I'm not so sure.
But have the books been sent out yet?
Because I haven't received mine yet.

IonaMumsnet · 11/09/2016 17:48

Hi there Oblomov! Good question, and sorry you've been hanging around waiting. Hope you've got another page-turner on the go! There aren't many staff here on a Sunday but we'll send SorchaMumsnet a prod for tomorrow morning and ask her to look into this and post here letting you know. Have a good evening, all.

AverageGayLadAtChristmas · 11/09/2016 19:24

I haven't had one either Grin

Jemimapuddleduk · 12/09/2016 17:48

I didn't receive my copy either.

coolpotato · 15/09/2016 21:57

Me neither Hmm

SorchaMumsnet · 16/09/2016 17:03

Hi - just to let you know, the publisher has just confirmed the books have been sent out. The winners have also been notified by email. Sorry to hear that some requests didn't seem to go through - if you have a problem again, do email [email protected] and we will try to see what's going wrong!

AutumnDragon · 16/09/2016 17:13

This may sound like a silly question, but how do the publishers know where to send the books?

SorchaMumsnet · 16/09/2016 17:30

Hi AutumnDragon - not a silly question! When you apply on the book giveaway page form, you will be asked to enter your address. We only pass on the winners' addresses to the publisher to send out the books. Good luck for the next one!

pinkpixie83 · 16/09/2016 17:35

Looking forward to receiving my copy. Sounds like a good read.

AutumnDragon · 16/09/2016 17:37

Thanks Sorcha - I was lucky enough to win one this time - I'd forgotten about entering my address Blush

horseyrider · 16/09/2016 18:40

I'm really looking forward to receiving this book, it looks really good!

buddles · 16/09/2016 18:41

Just got my email to say I've won - really looking forward to reading this!

glenka · 16/09/2016 20:44

This is a different sort of book to what I usually read but it sounds like it is going to be a good book.

JammyDodger16 · 16/09/2016 21:15

Hooray! I've got a copy of the book coming! So excited Smile

Oblomov16 · 17/09/2016 08:46

I didn't get an email so am a bit gutted, because presumably a book isn't on its way to me.

300 copies? But there are only 43 posts on this thread? Yes, lots of people may have applied who didn't post not this thread, but 300. the numbers just don't add up.

What is going on MNHQ?

AverageGayLadAtChristmas · 17/09/2016 08:48

I didn't have an email :(

Oblomov16 · 17/09/2016 08:50

I can smell a rat. There's something really dodgy going I here, I'm just not sure what it is.

AverageGayLadAtChristmas · 17/09/2016 08:52

I'll be the Watson to your Sherlock!

Oblomov16 · 17/09/2016 08:53

Winkok, let's go and investigate!

AverageGayLadAtChristmas · 17/09/2016 08:59

You do have a point with the numbers though Confused I was certain I'd win a copy!

Oblomov16 · 17/09/2016 09:23

Me too, I just assumed I was in with a very good chance.
was I totally conceited? I saw 300 books and only 30 odd applicants. I thought, I'm in with a good chance here. Not like some competitions where there are 50 prizes and 200+ applicants.
How can this have gone so wrong?
It's only a book. But it's the principal.

Oblomov16 · 17/09/2016 09:28

"if you have a problem again, do email [email protected] and we will try to see what's going wrong!"

What a load of rubbish.
You were TOLD that people had problems registering, at the beginning of the thread. And you've done nothing about it.
Apart from saying, if it happens again, contact us.

NO.
Address the problem in hand. Address the fact that THIS one went wrong.

And incidentally I DIDNT have a problem registering. So how do you explain that?

How many people registered?
How many books have actually been sent out?
300 books sent out to Mn'ers? Really?
