Are the Tana French Dublin books okay to read out of order?

I've accidentally bought one on my kindle instead of downloading the sample. Do I need to start with number one? Or they are stand alone-ish?

I think you can return it for a refund within the first month if you bought it by accident.

But seeing as the first five are 99 pence each at the moment, I would just buy them all at that price, unless you are absolutely skint, as that is a total bargain. Then you can read them all in order at your leisure.

I read In the Woods a couple of years ago and have been waiting for the price on the others to drop since - I have so many unread books to read that I only allow myself to buy at 99p.

To answer your question though. I am halfway through the second one and there are little snippets referring to In the woods.

I think this is a common thing in series. They are generally standalone-ish, as in different stories, but the author inserts the little snippets, so you know a little of the main characters histories without having read all of previous books.

I do try to read in order, but I don't think it's always necessary.

Thanks. Yes, felt a bit silly after I posted and saw they were all only 99o each! So I bought In the Woods as well, and am starting there. Enjoying it so far Smile
