remembering bombing about on my bike with my best mate sarah, then having a dip in the outdoor public pool, going home to here for tea, and then playing with our dolls all evening. wish i was back there now........

Hitchhiking round France with my friend. It was raining and so I put on the blue headscarf my mom had thoughtfully put in my back pack.
Got a lift, settled into my seat and took wet scarf off. My blond hair had turned bright green. Mom had rinsed scarf in water containing a little bleach , getting rid of colour fastness! My friend was hysterical with laughter.
Tried to rinse out in a motorway services , no good. Stuck with green hair for a week before it faded. 😂

I used to always have a diary and write everything in it. From what I was watching on TV to who I was dating at the moment and lots of things that I had done with my best friends hehe. Loved hanging out at the 'banana slide' and using crayons to make you go down faster. It was great :)

My Mother had hand knitted a cardigan which I was proudly wearing for the first time when I went down the park with my best friend. We were larking about with a group of boys and I got my new cardi sleeve dirty so when we got back to my home we decided to just wash the sleeve to prevent the wrath of my Mother. This was done in the bathroom with toilet soap, & then we put on the electric fire to dry it. We decided to count to one hundred holding the sleeve close to the heat, but suddenly as we neared the end of our count there was an awful smell, & the wet section just shrivelled away. My friend quickly went home & left me to the mercy of my Mother alone! After the 'storm' had passed my Mother knitted a new sleeve for my cardigan, but I never felt the same again about it (or my friend!)

Teenage friendships are just so intense. Although I suspect that is teenage life in general.

Best memories - the little stuff. Chatting for hours, hanging out.

Worst memories - being dumped by my friend every time she met a boy. And being ostracized by my "mates" for being uncool.

My memories from that time centre on my horse riding pals. We had such fun days out, hacking in the local countryside and also riding to the local pubs which all had a field in which you could put your horse.My horse became quite fond of a handful of shandy!

My best friend from the age of 13-18 and I used to spend hours on Tooting Common with our group of friends, playing on the swings when we were younger, having picnics listening to the radio and pretending we were at a festival, revising for our GCSE's and A Levels. Most of my memories are of sunny days spent lying on blankets on the grass with my bestie 😊

Sleepovers, going to the video shop, scrunching each other's perms, bus into town for cinema and make up shopping, first gig, first drunken night out...

I loved my teen friendships. We really needed each other.

I lived in a rural area in the west of scotland so when my best friend came to stay we would throw some cheese sandwiches in our old schoolbags and go off walking for miles to see how far we could get. Then we would head home as it started getting dark to scoff my grandmothers home made soup and spread out in my bedroom listening to music and talking about boys!!

Best memories are of reading Jackie magazine together and roller skating at the free outdoor disco in the local park!

I was horribly shy but remember my best friend kindly getting a boy to dance with me at her birthday party, and just generally being there for me.

My cousin and myself found an abandoned kitten down on our local canal -we sat with her wrapped in a blanket loving and feeding her in shifts -she survived and we believed it was our love care and attention -we shared her between our homes for 5 years and to this day our friendship is as strong as it was 40 years ago

Memories of teenage friendships are inevitably a mix of good and bad.

A bad time I remember was on a school trip when some members of our group decided to engage in a spot of shoplifting. But they were supposed to be friends, how could we report them?

Of course, I prefer to remember the good times --> biking up and down the hills, hanging out in our 'shack' (hideout), playing football till dusk, and when we explored the 'haunted' quarry. Good times, definitely.

The teenage years were all about finding people who helped me feel less othered. It was intense and funny and the basis for my adult relationships.

I think my friends helped me expand my ways of thinking and to see things from so many different perspectives.

Sleepovers, rummaging around the sofa cushions to find money for ice cream (we got fat that summer ) The friendship was intense and the fallout still hurts.

Teenage friendships are so close and tightknit they are almost claustraphobic, but only when looking back at them. Spending (usually) all day at school together, then the phone calls arranging the evening plans, then spending the whole evening together....but never running out of things to say.

I don't think we were the coolest teenagers.... we learned the entire dialogue for Disney's 'Hercules' and would spout it at each other alllllllllll the time. We were never bored

best memories.how one friend moved away at the worst time of my life,but we somehow weathered the borders and kept together via letters and phone then when she came back and I needed her most still she was the only one who was actually there.years later others who had stayed in the country had left me.she came back walked in,scooped e up and weve been together ever since.20 years on from that...

Great memories - sitting on the landing stage at the rowing club, chatting and dangling our feet in the water

Bad - discovering everyone else in my group was going away together post GCSEs and hadn't invited me

Going to the discos at the boys' school we were linked to and giggling on one side of the wall while a few brave souls managed to navigate the gender divide and TALK to each other

Best Wide-Awake-Overs no sleeping, plenty of treats, lots of laughing

Worst one of my best friends dad driving the family away when they were moving to a different area, tried to keep in touch but it just wasn't the same and it fizzled out after a few years

Best- chatting on the phone for hours after being at school together all day. I think we had to hand up and redial after 59 minutes to keep the calls free or something like that.

Worst- moving house, changing schools and trying to make new friends several times in my teens. It was very hard but has made me able to handle new situations and new people more easily as an adult. I still wouldn't do it to my own kids unless I absolutely had to though.

Best memory post A levels at Glastonbury. Worst, one particular bad falling out. Horrible. Girls can be tricky.
