Has anyone else read this? I'm 3/4 of the way through and it's my favourite book of the year so far. It's set it the near future when America is in a total financial and social meltdown. I'm not usually a big fan of speculative fiction but I found this totally believable. It is also very darkly humorous.

Not read it yet but definitely planning to when it's out of hardback. Glad to hear it's good! I am a fan of Shriver, there's a real bite to her writing.

We had this for book club. Mixed reception. I didn't particularly like any of the characters and found it depressing and didn't finish the last 50 pages or so. All in all, a bit of a disappointment.

Yes, I read it and enjoyed it. I read it just after the Brexit result so it reflected my feelings of doom.

Yes me too. I really enjoyed it. Seemed very plausible.

AP, that's when we had the book as well. The parallels were just so depressing.

I really enjoyed it - very amusing in places.

I know a slightly old thread - not zombie yet I think.😉 But if you have read this book is this malware attack reminding you of this book i.e. When the hackers took down the internet and caused the 'Stone Age' ... I keep seeing so many things happening that remind of this book - Ed Balls as PM though - I am labour but that is 🙄.
