The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen

Has anyone else tried this? I am supposed to be reading it to discuss tomorrow but I just can't get into it. It has one masses of prizes including the 2016 Pulitzer prize for fiction but boy is it hard going.

It was really good I thought. , but my god the last few chapters were really harrowing..
( not really a jolly holiday read .. , although I did read it on a beach)

3 of my friends liked it & 1 didn't. I've lent it to another friend now. Maybe I'll try again when she's finished it.
