Please recommend me a good series.

I loved StMarys and Rivers of London. I like something amusing yet juicy. Don't mind a bit of detective crimey stuff.
Going on holiday next week and need to load the kindle with a weeks worth

Have you read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich? Starts with One For the Money. Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter working for her cousin Vinnie in Trenton, New Jersey. There's loads of books in the series now. They are light weight crime, with lots of humour. I love them, especially the early ones. The later ones have got a little bit samey but are still good fun.

Benedict Jacka are quite similar to Rivers of London. I think Fated is the first one. Also Paul Cornell London Falling was quite entertaining, along similar lines.

I also liked Rivers of London and have a few non-gritty suggestions. I like mysteries etc but can't do scary.

Parasol Protectorate series is fun, Victorian Steam Punk England. Found this via a mumsnet book swap four years ago and have read the whole series at least twice.

Daisy Dalrymple series, detective series set in 1920s upper class England.

Amelia Peabody murder mystery series set in Victorian England/Egypt.

Or for something completely different I've just read the first two Poldark novels and they were addictive!

Hope this helps, they're quite niche books but I love them.

Annie Graham series by Helen Phiffer, a psychic policewoman, set in the Lake District. Really really enjoyed these. Slightly spooky, easy to read.

Angela Marsden, crime novels, again easy to read. Fairly gruesome but very enjoyable.

J.L Bryan .. Ellie Jordan ghost hunter. Set in Georgia, in the Deep South. Another ghost hunter one ( hence the title!). Easy reads, quite spooky.

Stephen Leather.. Jack Nightingale series. As above, supernatural crime novels. I seem to have a theme here!

I also love the Cazalet series, completely different to the above!

The Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes books by Laurie R King are good, must be read in order, and I LOVE The Mistress Of The Art Of Death novels by Ariana Franklin, the pen name of Diana Norman, the late wife of Barry Norman the film critic.
The Flavia de Luce novels by Alan Bradley are excellent too.
The series of novels by Catronia MacPherson are also good, ( cant remember the titles, sorry)
The Inspector Faro books by Alanna Knight.
The Maggie Hope series by Susan Ella Macneal
The Frances Tey series by Nicola Upson
And last but not least the Bryant and May series by Christopher Fowler!
The author of the Daisy Dalrymple series is Carola Dunn.
