I bought this as we didn't win a copy and pleased I did as is sooo funny, my daughter loved it as did my niece who is a bit older. Think it will be one to read again and again in this house

According to my son, Roman is not the only character to provide lots of laugh out loud moments, his favorite character was actually Darren, he found him very funny.
There are lots of funny situations which make you chuckle, Roman tries really hard to get over obstacles, which I find can be similar situations children can find themselves in at the early days at school, and I think this book would help children feel they are not on their own in some situations. A great read, would recommend.

My nephews were engrossed, such fun.

I read this with my nephew over the course of a week - he's a little young for this at 5, but he enjoys the meatier looking 'big boy' books & feels picture books are for babies. This is a good mix - lots of text, opportunities for putting on the voices & a few pictures to keep his interest. It was a really funny book - even I had a few giggles! Looking forward to reading others in the Roman Garstang series. Never want to eat another chicken nugget again though.. but maybe that's a good thing!

My son related to the main character and felt a bit sorry for him. He loves funny books, and I like reading them to him.

Thank you for our free copy of this book. This is DS (10)'s review:

I recommend this book for ages 7-11. It has hilarious humour packed inside, beautiful pictures, and seriously weird characters. I particularly like the idea that Roman is targeted by bullies but always manages to get away. I also thought it was funny that love is portrayed as a disgusting topic because that is how schoolchildren think. I loved this ingeniously written book.

daisyduke66 · 22/07/2016 16:11

Great fun! Loved by all the children and will definitely be a re-read!

Great book! The kids found it funny.

Thanks for our free copy. My DD (8) has not put this book down since she started reading it and sits in the corner of the room laughing out loud. As I haven't read it I asked her to write the review:

"Who would have thought a chicken nugget could be so evil?" I like the bit where Rosie Taylor sits on Kevin Pukelear Missile Harrison's lap. I also like the bit where Gamble fires a chicken nugget at Rosie. Funny, hilarious, I will recommend this book to all my friends.

She's now keen to read Mark Lowery's other books so I'd say it was a winner!

angiehoggett · 27/07/2016 12:24

brilliant and a really good read

rocketriffs · 27/07/2016 18:43

My 6 yr old lad was laughing out loud reading this. He gives it the thumbs up. If he had his way, he would live on a Chicken Nugget diet too.

janjan29 · 27/07/2016 21:39

Not much a review I'm afraid....my daughter says "it's really good"

CordeliaScott · 28/07/2016 09:31

Thank you for my copy of this book. It is a great book and very funny.

Bellroyd · 29/07/2016 05:00

This went down very well with a use of humour that certainly appealed to my grandson. It was his 'book at bedtime' all last week. Have since bought him The Jam Doughnut That Ruined My Life for his next birthday.

dirtypop · 31/07/2016 09:45

they loved it, great fun

toodles60 · 31/07/2016 18:33

A really funny book about a boy called Roman who will only eat jam dougnuts. His mum makes him eat chicken nuggets instead and this makes for some hilarious reading. Great story with amazing characters :)

Lydia30 · 31/07/2016 20:12

My youngest says she read it in school and thought it was funny

meggysar · 31/07/2016 20:48

My niece absolutely loves this book.

smit23 · 31/07/2016 21:11

It's a lovely book, went down very well with our boys!

Dessallara · 31/07/2016 22:23

I'm loving it, first page made me laugh, haven't finished yet though, but it is great, easy to read when relaxing before bed. I'm probably childish ;D

Carriecakes80 · 01/08/2016 11:27

My daughter really loved this & read it with 24 hours! Roman Garstang is a great little character and this was actually quite funny, not laugh out loud funny, but it definitely puts a smile on your face! (Well, it did when I read it to my youngest!) x
Great little book! x

VickyRsuperstar · 01/08/2016 11:47

It amused the kids so much they want to read it all again!
