Preparation for the Next Life by Atticus Lish - do you eventually get into it?

I am some 30 pages in and I'm finding it hard to sustain interest....but it got great reviews. Does it get easier to read/follow?

I found you had to really immerse yourself in it. Be warned, also, there is at least one VERY violent scene that really disturbed me - enough that I had to put the book down and walk around the house for a while, thinking of other things. But that suggests that I was into it! So...my answer would be, yes, stick with it.
