Yep. Twice! It's an excellent book but very upsetting. Very realistic portrayal of people's reactions to rape/victim blaming etc (even when they are sympathetic to some degree like her parents).

What did you think?

hollyisalovelyname · 13/03/2016 23:50

I agree it was upsetting.

I read this book last year, it really was very harrowing and stuck with me for a long time. It's a tough read at times, but definitely very thought provoking.

Thanks Tina. I thought there would be more traffic on this threadSad

Yup I've read it, I enjoyed it but it was so frustrating! I wanted to scream at some of the characters e.g. the victim blamers. The critics aren't lying when they said Louise writes with a scalpel.

Thanks op, lining up something new to read so it's on my kindle waiting for me to get to it.

onedogatoddlerandababy - I recommend Louise's other book Only Ever Yours as well!

Thank you Notamummy I shall seek it out.

I read Only Ever Yours and thought it was really good.

Asking For It is not an easy read or an enjoyable one. However, I think it needed to be written, and needs to be read.

Thanks TheSecond
