axel scheffer books seem funny. His monkey book always raises a laugh here.

Julia Donaldson books are good - the gruffalo, and she's done others as well.

My ds also likes Thomas the Tank engine books as he is getting used to longer stories.

Stories that rhyme are good. Hairy Mclary if you like cats. Or my DS's got Monkey Puzzle from my DB for Xmas. It's an excellent rhyming one and quite funny. Both my boys like the Mr Men books too, as well as Thomas the Tank Engine. (It's just me and DH it drives crazy!)

Maisie Mouse always goes down well, you could get a book, dvd and toy.
My little boy is not quite 2 but loves this week's library book, a Charlie & Lola one. I keep catching him sitting by himself reading it!

But then charlie and lola are all over fabulous - I find myself nagging Dd 'let's watch charlie and lola again
