I'm very much enjoying it so far.

I found it gave me a lot to think about - gets a bit repetative towards the end, but he is a good writer and the views aer certainly worth considering in this day and age.

DH has just ordered that from Amazon -hasn't arrived yet but will report back - quite intrigued

Twiglett · 01/01/2007 18:06

I wanted it .. but I got freakonomics instead

HuwEdwards · 01/01/2007 18:07

is this a book?

Tinker · 01/01/2007 18:21

Bought it for someone else so I could borrow it. Will read eventually but he's been doing the rounds so much, is there anything very new in there that he's not already aired?

juuule · 01/01/2007 18:36

Didn't get it for Christmas but have read it. I thought it was a great book.

WeaselMum · 01/01/2007 18:38

I got it - from a very good Christian friend of mine Have only read a little so far but think it's going to be excellent

Hello Aloha, really so good to see you back

Can you tell a little of what this book is about please?

Aloha · 01/01/2007 18:50

Basically, it is saying there are no Gods (evidence marshalled), so why do people believe in them (explanations offered). But in a very spirited, intellectual but readable style. He clearly enjoyed writing it. I think some of his analogies don't quite work for me, but he does a brilliant job of showing the absurdities of religion, demolishes the creationist/Intelligent Design brigade and has huge fun showing what an utter shit the Old Testament God undoubtedly is, not to mention Abraham and Moses. I'm not yet half way through.

My ex H got a God delusion soon after we divorced but Huw, I'd say this IS about a book!

Is "Dawkins" the author?

Is that Brian Dawkins? I like the sound of this book, sounds like stuff I would agree with.

juuule · 01/01/2007 20:43

Richard Dawkins.

anorak · 01/01/2007 20:47

Thank you.

PMSL at your dream, Pruni What can it all mean??

I stayed with some friends over NYE and one of the other guests had his nose in this for most of the weekend. He was very attractive yet rather arrogant and I didn't dare ask him if he was enjoying it. (I wouldn't have minded if he'd rippled his washboard stomach at me, however.)

I have enjoyed Dawkins in the past, so might give it a try.
