Just seen The Widow is the Kindle daily deal on Amazon,at £1.99. It's being hailed as the "new Gone Girl" ( like lots of others) but might be worth a try.

I read it last week and though it's not up to the standard set in Gone Girl, I did really enjoy it.

I've just finished reading this and enjoyed it. It's the first book in a while I've read over a weekend so I guess something must have hooked me.

This was her first book and I wonder if it it will remain a stand alone book, I quite liked both Kate and DCI Sparkes, it could become a good series.

I read an interview with the author and she's working on a second book that features Kate.

Found it very disappointing. Lots of tedious police procedure and interviews, and no real twists. Jean and Glen are portrayed as a staid middle-aged couple, then you realise they are in their late thirties. Rather over-hyped, I thought.

I enjoyed it.

I agree with Clawdy. I was very disappointed with this after the hype.

Loved it up to two thirds in then downhill all the way.
