Has anyone read "Ugly" by Constance Briscoe?

Ive just started reading it and am appalled and shocked by the book and still only on page 100. What shocks me I think is that this poor girl was brought up in London in the 60s and not some far off place at the turn of the century.

Apparantly she is being sued by her family because they say that she made the whole thing up!

I've also read that various members of her family are suing her, but would have thought that for a barrister and part-time judge to write anything untrue would have been professional suicide.

Whenever I read books like this where children "fall through the net", I cannot help but think that there must be similar children like this suffering right now.
