Is currently under £2 on kindle

I know it's not fiction and I will repost this in non fiction but it's such a bargain!

Is it good?

magimedi · 29/11/2015 22:25

Cote - I don't know, but it has had ace reviews & is about £18 in hardback in the shops do am happy to take a punt at that price.

I'd already bought this evening, after Beard tweeted to say it was under a tenner (turned out that was the hardback, was amazed at the Kindle price). Great interview with her about the book here in the History Extra podcast.

I read it a few weeks ago - it's extremely good. Very lucid and well-written. It's long, though.

Thanks, have bought this. I really enjoyed her Pompeii book - the right blend of interesting but actually academic.

weebarra · 30/11/2015 08:10

Thank you, have bought this!

Helenluvsrob · 30/11/2015 08:12

Thanks!

HermioneWeasley · 30/11/2015 08:14

Thanks, have got it!

I picked it up on a Black Friday deal for £10 as part of my xmas gift from DH. It arrived today and I haven't taken it out of the package but it seems like a significant tome. So looking forward to it.

Wolpertinger · 30/11/2015 17:11

It's v readable, pages go pretty quickly. I'm not sure if she's still doing her book launch tour but if she is, she is well worth seeing talk about it and life in general.

tribpot · 30/11/2015 17:14

I'm a bit worried she's going to spot this thread and think we've missed the point completely because we all think it's fiction Grin

Helenluvsrob · 30/11/2015 18:31

Mary we know it's not fiction but the original poster wanted to share you grand book widely!

I bought it for my DD who has just started a PhD in ancient history :)

I like her audio books, may get this. Pompeii one brilliant, she narrated it.
