Not to chick-lit fan but nothing too heavy.

Loved; Victoria Hislop, Girl on the Train type books, Jo Nesbo, Douglas Kennedy.

Hated; any misery reads, Elizabeth is Missing, Fantasy type stuff.

Would quite like something funny. Any ideas please?

Reading this thread I've found the Simon Serralier series. I could download all 8 for £32, shall I risk it?

You say you're looking for something funny. The Simon Serrailler series deal with some very serious issues and take quite a dark turn. I found the first one had a shocking ending. There's rape, murder, child abuse, and much more. I loved the series and, from you say you've read, I would hazard a guess that you would too, but I would maybe get one book first and see how you get on with it rather than buy the whole series straight off.

Thanks Duchess, they do look like my type of read but I'm sure you're right to try one first.
Are they more brutal than the Nesbo series?

I have only read one Nesbo, and don't think they are as bad. There's quite a bit of sadness for the main characters (the Serrailler family) though.
