Last year I read a great thread that had suggestions for books that men would enjoy reading.

From this thread I bought Pilgrim, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and Killing Floor which he liked as an easy read. He also loves Fantasy books esp Game of Thrones.

Does anyone have any recommendations for this year?

How about an autobiography? I quite like buying 'off piste' presents 9 times out of 10 it works. A bit like the mystery house on property programmes Smile

Hmm, he has read David Millar's autobiography that was very good, so will have a look. Thanks for the suggestion

Has he read Robin Hobb's Assassin books? They're fantasy, very popular, and I think they'd appeal if he liked GoT.

No, haven't heard of that author

Thank you Flowers

How about Deon Meyer books? The men in my life seem to really enjoy these.

Has he read the Stieg Larsson Millenium trilogy? My Dad loved those.

The Andre Agassi autobiography is really interesting too (possibly not if he hates tennis!)

Does he like history? Conn Iggulden writes historical fiction series about real life characters, he has covered Caesar and Genghis Kahn so far and is currently in the process of the War of the Roses.

I think they're brilliant and I loved Pilgrim and I love Lee Child.

DH really enjoyed the Enemy series by Charlie Higson. YA books with the 7th part just out.
Also Iain M Banks fantasy novels.

Deon Meyer, Ghengis Khan and Charlie Higson sound right up his street and mine

The first Charlie Higson book is in the Amazon three for £10 deal

Ian Fleming's James Bond Letters (real letters) has just gone down well with DB as a birthday present.
